Need rec wrt front porch for Dutch Colonial in woods on hill. 2 stories, 3 dormers on 2nd story.Have tiny front stoop w/steep stairs now, no overhang.Would small porch look dorky?

Goal=covered front entry from rain/snow + wide enough porch to open screen door w/2 people on stoop at same time + not decrease light in house if possible. Can post pic if helpful.
