My back porch roof has a slope of 4" in 8 ft. What's the best way to... | |
I had a shingle paper roof that failed in two years. It was worn and split and the nails were popping up. The underlayment is 7/16 osb on 16" centers. The roof is south facing.

1First, make sure that OSB stuff (hate it) is in good condition. I'd lay (nail) down some heavy underlayment (tar paper), with at least (preferably more than) the edges sealed by roofing cement. Then, I'd slather on plenty of cold-process cement and roll out the roll roofing. Nailing is optional for that. The cold process stuff will stick it down. You can nail, but always cover any holes or nail heads with cement. Seal everything--flashing, etc.
